- Description
- DARPA is soliciting innovative research proposals in the area of high resolution affordable emissive micro-displays. Proposed research should investigate innovative approaches that enable revolutionary advances in science, devices, or systems. Specifically excluded is research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to the existing state of practice. The High Resolution Affordable Emissive Micro-Displays (EMD) program will develop a new generation of emissive micro-displays with high brightness, long lifetime, good electrical efficiency, and low cost. The principal application target for this new capability is the emergent arena of dynamic holography. Current micro-displays are expensive, optically inefficient, unsuitable for tiling into large area displays, or incapable of achieving long lifetimes at the necessary level of brightness and spatial resolution.
