- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC PC), 110 Vernon Avenue, Panama City, FL 32407-7001 is seeking sources for the furnishing of Fiber Optic Marine Cable (FOMC). The contractor will supply the bare optical fiber and will be required to apply a high strength coating that will yield a FOMC that can withstand the environmental stresses and marine biological attacks by crustaceans, (Callinectes Sapidus for example). The FOMC must meet all size (38 mil, Outside diameter +/- 1/2 mil and 55 mil, Outside diameter +/- 1/2 mil, and be capable of being precision wound) and performance requirements that will have the maximum attenuation per meter of the coated cable shall be 0.25dB per kilometer at the 1550 nm wavelength, 0.5 dB per kilometer at 1300 nm, and withstand 30 lb. (38 mil) and 60 lb. (55 mil) working tensile load with no attenuation degradation and withstand attack by crustaceans. Projected delivery rate will be up to 40,000 meters per w eek. The required cable length will be in the range of 5,000 meters to 12,000 meters. Annual quantities are estimated from 400,000 meters to 1.75 000 meters of FOMC. Interested firms shall respond with brief documentation showing the company's ability to fulfill the requirement described above. Only prime contractors should respond. This is not a solicitation nor will a solicitation package be issued as a result of this announcement. No award shall be made as a result of this announcement. In the event that a solicitation is developed, it will be assigned a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) number and the announcement will be published in the FEDBIZOPS. Responses are requested within 15 days.
