Description
Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), Princeton, NJ, a US Department of Energy Prime Contractor is seeking state of the art metrology support, which may include: 1) Equipment, including photogrammetry, laser trackers and other possible options as well as 2) Services to guide the assembly of the components of large experimental fusion devices, and 3) Training of PPPL personnel in the state of the art techniques for metrology systems. As an example, a requirement is to measure (to fully characterize the as-built shape) and assemble 18 unusually shaped magnets, which are approximately 10 feet in diameter and weigh approximately 7000 lbs each. Individual magnets are to be measured within +/- 0.002 inch and the combined measurement and assembly tolerance budget for three magnets together is on the order of +/- 0.010 inch. Pictures of the magnets may be seen at http://www.pppl.gov, under Procurement Opportunities, sources of Metrology Equipment / support sought. At 9:30 A.M. Tuesday 16 October interested parties may view the work site and on-going measurement activities at PPPL?s James Forrestal Campus, Princeton, NJ. Contact lsutton@pppl.gov for attendance details. Request interested qualified parties provide by 23 October 2007 a statement of interest, accompanied by specification, other technical information on the metrology equipment they would propose to offer, its approximate delivery lead time and scope of any training proposed. This is a request for expressions of interest only, and does not commit PPPL to the issuance of an order for any equipment or to reimburse any costs incurred in responding to this notice.
