GENERAL The construction work includes, but is not limited to, the following: Window Replacement in dorms at Whitney Young Job Corps Center. The extent of the work is further described in Section III of this scope of work. The general conditions of the contract for construction shall be consistent with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) except as modified or amended herein. A copy of the FAR is available for reference at the center. A copy of the FAR clauses will be given to every contractor as they visit the center for their walk through. a. Replace 18 windows in Berea Hall (5-Purchasing office; 5-HR; 6-Center Directors Office; 1-Records office; 1-Hallway) b. Replace 16 windows with double glazing, single hung, aluminum windows (size 3'-0" x 4'-0") in LTD dorm. c. Replace 16 windows with double glazing, single hung, aluminum windows (size 3'-0" x 4'-0") in MSK dorm. d. Replace 20 windows with double glazing, single hung, aluminum windows (size 3'-0" x 5'-0") in Robinson Dorm D. PRE-BID SITE INSPECTION Prior to submitting the offer, bidders shall visit the facility to make field measurements, evaluations, etc. to become familiar with existing conditions. A pre-bid appointment can be made by calling Terri Lea at 502-722-3600 or email at lea.terri@jobcorps.org, anytime before Oct 11, 2007. The contractor shall release and save HYS harmless from any and all loss, cost, damage, or expense which he may incur, suffer, or be required to pay because of errors, omissions, or inconsistencies in his bid, or of a failure on the part of HYS and the Whitney Young Job Corps Center to take into account all of the factors affecting the work. INSTRUCTION TO BIDDER OFFER Make offers in accordance with the following instructions: 1. Submit offer on attached Bid Form. Fill out all blanks; make no additions, erasures or alterations to the Bid Form. Bid Form: Must be signed by an authorized official of the company making offer. 2. Attach a bid breakdown to the Bid Form. Breakdown shall separately identify major components/assemblies of the project with associated costs. 3. Each bidder shall carefully examine the contract documents and shall inspect the existing construction site, prior to submitting a bid, to familiarize himself with all conditions under which the work is performed. No variance or extra payment will be allowed for requirements or conditions arising during construction that were apparent prior to starting work. No extra payment will be made for those items arising during construction which would have been reasonably anticipated to be required during the construction or could have been detected by close inspection at the site prior to bid. 4. Deliver bid to Purchasing agent, Terri Lea, Purchasing, Whitney Young Job Corps Center, 8460 Shelbyville Rd, Simpsonville, KY 40067 on or before the time stated in the Invitation to Bid in a sealed opaque envelope marked "BID FOR" and bearing the title of the project and name of the bidder. Bids delivered via Fed Ex, Express Mail, UPS, etc. is acceptable. Bids received after the time stated in the Invitation to Bid will be returned unopened. Facsimile offers will not be accepted for sealed bid requirements. Prime bidders attendance at Bid Opening is not mandatory.
