- NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE: The 3rd Contracting Squadron, Elmendorf AFB, AK intends to award a sole source purchase order to The City of Galena. The City of Galena will be providing food service on Galena Air Station. This purchase will be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other than Full and Open Competition as authorized by FAR 6.302-1. Galena Airport is remotely located on the Yukon River approximately 350 air miles northwest of Anchorage, Alaska. The only means of travel to Galena is by air or boat. Travel by road or rail is not possible. Due to winter weather, travel to Galena is sometimes not possible. Availability of local contracted services is non-existent. The anticipated award date is 1 October 07. This notice is neither a request for competitive proposals nor a solicitation of offers. A determination by the government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
