****ATTENTION****FORMAL COMMUNICATION RELATED TO THIS ACQUISITION SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO Edward Blair, Contracting Officer, email to edward.blair1@us.army.mil, fax (256) 313-4144. TELEPHONE REQUESTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The U.S. Army Aviation and Mi ssile Command (AMCOM), Huntsville, AL is anticipating acquiring the effort to design, test, qualify, and manufacture a plug and play Upgraded Symbology Display Unit (USDU) that overlays pilotage and targeting aircraft symbology onto Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) in the AH-64 Apache, in both crew stations (Pilot and Co-Pilot Gunner). The proposed technical solution must allow the operator to safely and effortlessly switch between the AH-64 Helmet Display Unit and USDU in flight. It shall require little or n o change to existing AH-64D sighting systems, to include Improved Helmet Display Sight System (IHDSS) as well as the Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting System (IHADSS). The Government anticipates acquiring a quantity of 55 ship sets of the USDU with a n option for 78 ship sets 15 months after basic contract award, and a second option for 556 ship sets 27 months after basic contract award. The period of performance to complete qualification of this effort shall not exceed 15 months after contract award.
