- Description
- The USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), National Veterinary Services Lab (NVSL) intends to issue a sole source award using commercial procedures to acquire Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) chicken eggs (estimated 4900 per week for 52 weeks); Fregg Premium Grade Chicken Eggs (estimated 288 eggs weekly for 52 weeks) and SPF Research Grade chicken eggs (estimated 108 bi-weekly for 52 weeks) to be used in research at the NVSL facility from Charles River Lab Inc./SPAFAS located in North Franklin, CT. The proposed action is to permit USDA to purchase the premium and research eggs of a specific industry standard, hatch rate, and which are flock specific to be able to conduct specialized research. USDA intends to award a one-year contract for these research eggs with options for up to an additional four years. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Numbered Note 22 applies.
