Description
The Louis Stokes, Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Brecksville, Ohio 44141 intends to negotiate a sole source procurement for the Sensie Robotic arm from Hansen Medical. The Government intends to accomplish the acquisition of this equipment using commercial item procedures in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 12 and in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, of other than full and open competition. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. The VA believes that Hansen Medical is the only company that can provide this equipment. The VA believes that the unique characteristics of this equipment are its ability The robot allows for Remote catheter control in three dimensions Extremely tight bend radius facilitates access to hard-to-reach cardiac anatomy Rapid and dependable catheter manipulation and tip placement. The Sensei system extends the Physicians reach. In fact, it extends the physician's own fingertips by putting them virtually inside the cardiac anatomy. The Sensie is instantly responsive, instinctive and deliberate catheter guidance regardless of image orientation. The catheter immediately replicates the hand movement of the motion controller, which allows visualization of catheter position and control parameters. However, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 7 days (which equates to September 26, 2007) from the date of publication of this announcement. Supporting evidence must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information may be sent to the Contracting Officer by emailing dara.greene@ va.gov date indicated herein. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the VA Medical Center will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Hansen Medical for said equipment.
