- THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract. The Department of Veterans' Affairs, James A. Haley Veteran's Hospital (JAHVH) located in Tampa, FL intends to solicit and negotiate with Autovalet Systems LLC, Fairfax, VA, the procurement of the upgrade of three currently installed and operational Autovalet machine MK 7 to the new MK 8 standards. The Autovalet machine is an automated system for uniform distribution that securely stores, issues and tracks uniforms used by hospital employees. A savings of over 30% is expected by upgrading the current systems instead of acquiring new units. This upgrade will improve the existing system by extending its life and reducing maintenance requirements. It will also increase reliability and ease of service. Upgrade installation will be completed in less time than removal and new unit install, reducing out of service time for the hospital. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all information received by 2:00 p.m. EST, 19 September 2007, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. NAICS 333311 with a size standard of 500 employees.
