Description

This amendment is being issued to modify a combined synopsis solicitation posted to FedBizOps September 5, 2007. Please note that the response date of September 17, 2007 at 11:59 PM remains unchanged QUESTION: Assembly of drawing AL56008 to AL56007  the tolerances on both parts would indicate that this is not a press or interference fit. Tolerances are wide enough that the parts would essentially be loose. Is the intention that these parts should b e manufactured within tolerances so that they are assembled as a press fit or is it possible to assemble using a loctite binder? ANSWER: The clearances between the explosive billet and body (0.00196 inches) as well as the body and base plate (0.00098 inches), are small enough that glue or sealant is not required. The desired fit for these parts is a tight, sliding fit. Heating or cooling of parts to aid in assembly is permissible and at the discretion of the offeror. The fit between the PIC and the base plate is a sliding fit. The desired fit would allow the PIC to be disassembled and stored separately from the remainder of the warhead.
