Description
THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED. It is the intent of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to negotiate on a sole source basis with Illumina, Inc. 9885 Towne Centre Dr, San Diego, CA 92121-1975, to provide the Canine SNP20 Whole Genome Genotyping Kit for a period of one year from 09/07 - 09/08, along with the iSelect Infinium Genotyping Option upgrade package. The genotyping kits consists of CanineSNP20 Genotyping BeadChip and the necessary reagents. There are about 26000 SNPs on each chip from various genes in canine genome. This kit allows over 200,000 genotypes per day using in-house Illumina Beadstation 500 system with an additional purchase of iSelect Infinium Genotyping Option upgrade. The iSelect Infinium is required to support manual processing of 8 iSelect Infinium beadchips for whole-genome genotyping application. The kits will be used to do whole-genome wide association studies to map and characterize genes involved in malignant histiocytosis (MH). The sole source determination is based upon the use of these particular whole genome genotyping kits from Illumina, Inc., as it relates to the mapping and genotyping in the Bernese Mountain Dog study. We must continue to purchase these items in order to avoid the introduction of new variables into the experimental results and to avoid long delays resulting from retesting of products from other potential suppliers. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and is exempt from the requirements of FAR part 6, Competition Requirements. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 334516 and the Size Standard is 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NHLBI-PB-HG-2007-265-KLW may be submitted by mail to the National Heart Lung, and Blood Institute, Office of Acquisitions, Procurement Branch, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Suite 6042, Bethesda, MD 20892-7902, Attention: Kesha Williams, by fax transmission to (301) 480-3345 or by email to williamk@nhlbi.nih.gov
