- The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions and submit additional information received from the Department of Works. 1. Questions and Answers: a. If we are required to excavate, will we have to dispose of the excavated dirt or can we leave it onsite somewhere? IF DIRT IS EXCAVATED, IT SHALL BE DISPOSED OF IN THE LANDFILL. b. DPW had expressed a preference for 5 posts and for the area to be excavated so the top of the mulch was even with the ground. THE POLES SHALL BE 5 POSTS AND THE AREA IS TO BE EXCAVATED SO THAT THE TOP OF THE MULCH IS EVEN WITH THE GROUND. c. Drainage Requirements? IF THE SOIL DOES NOT PERC SLOPE TO DRAIN AND THEN RUN DRAINAGE TO A HEADWALL. d. Are we to quote wood fiber under the entire playground/swing project? THE SPECIFICATIONS STATE LOOSE FILL, LIKE ENGINEERED WOOD FIBER SHALL BE USED. UNITARY RUBBER SURFACING PROVIDED UP TO AND BELOW THE SWING. e. Also, do you want fabric under the mulch? YES. f. There is mention of rubber surfacing in the quote. Where is that to be used, and what type of rubber surfacing are you looking for? IF RUBBER SURFACING IS TO BE USED IN THE PROJECT WE WOULD WANT POURED IN PLACE RUBBER. How many bays are you looking fo r on the swings, and also what style frames? Are they to be handicap seats, belt, or infant? THE SEATS ARE TO BE A COMBINATION OF HANDICAPPED SEATS AND INFANT SEATS. g. Will the area be graded to accommodate the depth of the mulch, or are to provide borders to hold in the mulch? THE AREA SHALL BE GRADE IN OR TO ACCOMMODATE THE DEPTH OF THE MULCH. h. What is the deck height you want for the slides? THE HEIGHT OF THE DECK FOR THE SLIDE SHOULD BE 36 . 2. Department of Works wishes to have a playground design, color and material scheme that is not out of character with the serenity/quality of an historic district. 3. Submission of quotes shall be forwarded by Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 5:00 pm via email, stephanie.murphree@conus.army.mil or fax, (910) 396-7872.
