- Description
- The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for modifying two (2) existing winches or for furnishing new electric winches to replace the existing McElroy ECDW Model 520 electric winches located on the Corporation-owned buoy barge. All work shall be performed at or winches delivered to Massena, NY, homeport of the barge. The existing winches are capable of producing line pulls in excess of 40,000 lbs which causes wire ropes to break. The modified or new winches shall be capable of limiting the normal line pull to 10,000 lbs but shall have an override feature to allow the maximum capacity of the winches to be produced (ie 30,000 lbs - 40,000 lbs) and shall have variable speed controls, level wind devices, drum cable tension devices and integral three (3) roller fairleads. RFQ line items will include installation of the modified and for furnishing new winches. The RFQ and reference drawings will be available for downloading from the fbo website at www.fedbizopps.gov on or about September 26, 2007. Requests for a hard copy of the RFQ with reference drawings shall be sent to Patricia.White@sls.dot.gov. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation. Quotations must be received by the close of business on October 25, 2007. Delivery and/or installation of winches is required by August 1, 2008. Only one award will be made on or about November 1, 2007 for furnishing, furnishing and installing, or modifying the existing winches based on best value to the Corporation.
