The DOC, NIST, Building and Fire Research Laboratory (BFRL) has a long history of serving the measurements and standards needs of the building and fire safety industries. In this service, NIST, BFRL performs problem-focused structural engineering research related to buildings and other structures. Key areas of structural engineering research include risk assessment and mitigation for earthquakes, extreme winds, floods, fires, explosions, and impacts. The earthquake-related research is needed for the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP). The purpose of this requirement is to utilize a Contractor to perform specified problem-focused research which concentrates on efforts that support the development of National model building codes, standards, guidelines, enabling tools, and industry practices., knowledge development, synthesis, and technology transfer that are required to transition fundamental seismic engineering research and other fundamental structural or geotechnical engineering research to forms usable by engineering practitioners. The period of performance for this Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract with both cost reimbursement and fixed price task orders issued there-under is five(5) years. This requirement is being procured under the authority of the Federal Acquisitions Regulations Part 15. The NAICS code for this requirement is 541710.
