- The National Park Service, Midwest Regional Office will be issuing a Request For Quotation (RFQ) to Stabilize Quincy Mining Company Boilerhouse Smokestack located southeast of US Highway 41 at the south end of the Quincy Mine industrial complex on Quincy Hill, Northern Houghton County, Houghton, Michigan. Solicitation number Q6410070002. The work of this contract consists of inspecting the stack to assess its condition related to stabilization identifying any significant changes in conditions from those noted in the 2002 inspection report, installation of lightning protection and cap, lower chimney repair (approximately 40 feet high) and upper chimney repair (rising another 85 feet). The 125" concrete stack is immediately adjacent the 1906 brick Boiler House. Solicitation will be issued September 7, 2007. Award of this solicitation will be on or about September 21, 2007. Awardee must meet qualifications outlined in the RFQ to be considered for award. Hard copies of the solicitation will NOT be issued.
