- The FDA intends to award a sole source procurement to Opgen, Inc located at 510 CHARMANY DR., STE 151, MADISON, WI 53719. Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. An award will be made seven (5) calendar days from the date of this notice. Backround: The contractor will prepare of Optical Map(s) from 10 bacterial isolates. Scope of Work: The FDA shall provide samples from the organism, preferable live cells, as agar stabs, slant or glycerol stocks, and instructions for cell culture. The contractor will assume responsibility for preparing High-Molecular Weight DNA, and subsequent analysis. In cases where live cells or frozen cell pellets are not available or not feasible, DNA samples shall be provided as agarose plug. Deliverables: The contractor will analyze DNA from the sample and provide an estimate of the time required to prepare an Optical Map of the organism(s). The contractor will provide an electronic copy of each physical map / chromosome produced. The contractor will provide comparative analysis with available genome sequence. The contractor will provide Windows-based map-comparison software (?MapViewer?) to facilitate continued analysis beyond the duration of this order. Sole Source Justification: Optical mapping is a patented, relatively new technology, and there is only one company in the world solely licensed to do optical mapping. NO REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of providing the required service as stated herein may submit a capability statement to document its ability to provide the required services, which will be considered if received by September 12, 2007. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This announcement does not bind the government to any particular acquisition approach. All responses or questions regarding this posting must be in writing and can be sent via email to Dominique.Malone@fda.hhs.gov. No phone calls will be accepted. This sole source procurement will be awarded in accordance with FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items.
