Description
The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity, on behalf of the US Army Medical Materiel Agency, has a requirement for an automated closed system blood cell processor, brand-name Haemonetics Model ACP-215, quantity =1, and a Total Containment Dev ice for blood processing, quantity = 1. The equipment will be used as a back-up system in case of equipment failure on like units already in service in forward-deployed locations. The required product must by entirely compatible with existing systems in terms of operator familiarization, necessary consumable products, and maintenance requirements. USAMRAA intends to negotiate a sole source contract for this equipment with Haemonetics Corporation, 400 Wood Road, Braintree, MA 02184. The intent is to mak e a sole source award pursuant to FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii). This is a follow-on contract for the provision of highly specialized equipment, and it is likely that award to any other source will result in substantial duplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition and unacceptable delays in fulfilling the agencys requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document exists. Any firm that believes it can provide th e stated capability within the established timeframe is invited to submit written notification to the Contracting Officer within ten calendar days from the date of publication of this notice. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to d emonstrate the firms ability to provide the stated capability within the established timeframe. Information can be sent to the Contracting Officer at: USAMRAA, ATTN: MCMR-AAA-G (Christopher Todd), 820 Chandler Street, Frederick, MD 21702-5014. No teleph one requests will be accepted. Responses received will be evaluated, however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, USAMRAA will proceed with the sole source contract.
