- The Great Lakes Acquisition Center (GLAC) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Insight Instruments, Inc. for the purchase of the SDI/BIOM Wide Angle Viewing System. This equipment is custom designed to fit on the type of scope used in the VA Milwaukee operating room for retinal surgery (Zeiss Visu 200). This procurement is being conducted in accordance FAR 6.302, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. NAICS 339112. To the best of our knowledge, Insight Instruments, Inc. is the sole US distributor of the equipment manufactured by Oculus GmbH of Wetzlar Germany. The Biome Viewing Retinal Station has a stable device that hold a lens on the patient's eye for the duration of the operative procedure during retinal surgery so the surgeon can see the operative field within the eye. The required equipment must have specified feature and be compatible with existing scope equipment. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Office within (seven) 7 calendar days from the date of publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely at the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the GLAC will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Insight Instruments, Inc.
