- The Veterans Affairs Medical Center intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1(a)(2) with BDD Geneohm Sciences, Inc. 6146 Nancy Ridge Drive San Diego, CA 92121. The agency need is of a Smart Cycler Desktop, a semi-automated instrument used in Microbiology Lab to screen patients for MRSA to help the infection control practitioner and physician to stop the spread of hospital acquired MRSA infections, which is able to perform two(2) hour PCR tests on patients with one swab. The government has determined that BDD Geneohm Sciences, Inc. is the only responsible source able to provide this instrument. The Smart Cycler Desktop System will provide physician and infection control practitioner timely and accurate results to stop the spread of MRSA and provide quality care to the veterans. The proposed action is for the supply for which the Government intends to solicit and the Government has determined that only one responsible source can provide the supply that will satisfy the agency requirements. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination by the Contracting Officer not to compete this proposed action is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future.
