- The FDA intends to award Sole Source procurement to Thermo Fisher Scientific 275 Aiken RD, Ashville, NC 28806-2210. Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. An award will be made seven (7) calendar days from the date of this notice. JUSTIFICATION FOR SOLE SOURCE: The SORVALL RC-6 Plus is a compact super-speed centrifuge is a high-productivity solution delivering maximum throughput and minimal maintenance. As the only centrifuge for its size that does not require being anchored to the floor to meet CE and CSA safety standards. The Sorvall RC6 Plus has increased operating speeds of up to 22,000rpm and rapid acceleration/deceleration rates enables extremely fast processing of samples in the lab. It has an expanded rotor set that now includes continuous flow rotors, as well as new composite rotors. These advanced rotors are necessary for applications for our laboratory. This version will simplify preparation procedures by spinning disposable containers at much higher speeds. Vacuum-free operation ensures minimal maintenance, sample protection and rotary balance. This is the only centrifuge that provides bio-containment of samples and prevents spills, which is a very critical requirement of centrifugation of Influenza samples for the pandemic influenza project in our lab. GMP/GLP- Compatible Data Management: Offers traceability and quality control for Biotech/ Pharmaceutical processing needs. Programmability: 30 program memory allows common protocols to be stored and retrieved easily, and offers flexibility in a multi-user environment. Controlled-Access: This password-protected, software-enabled feature can limit access to authorized users in a multi-user environment. NO REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of providing the required service as stated herein may submit a capability statement to document its ability to provide the required services, which will be considered if received by September 6, 2007. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This announcement does not bind the government to any particular acquisition approach. All responses or questions regarding this posting must be in writing and can be sent via email to HARRY.BRUBAKERIII@fda.hhs.gov. No phone calls will be accepted. This sole source procurement will be awarded as a simplified acquisition in accordance with FAR Part 13.
