- Clarification for VA528-07-RQ-0201, 700Kw Rental Generator, Albany VA Medical Center I would like to clarify in detail the scope of work for the rental generator, I think this will clarify any confusion and be sufficient enough to submit a proposal. The requirements are for a rental generator to provide emergency power in the event of a normal power failure. The rental generator must be large enough to provide emergency power for the connected load; monthly test results yield a minimum of 250 amp 480 volt load, however this main generator must be capable of handling (back-feeding) other generators on the emergency power grid, which could be in excess of 600 amps at any given time if the other generators fail. The rental generator contract must also include a 1 time yearly load bank test to ensure that wet-stacking will not occur. " Note: The existing rental 700kw (kilowatt) generator replaced a permanent 500kw gen-set; the 700kw rental was the only available gen-set from the vendor that was available at that particular time. The existing permanent generator was a 500kw @ 480 volts. The VA opted to stay with the larger capacity 700kw rental generator.
