Description
Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, Princeton, Oregon - Intent to award sole source award to Pilgrim's Progress Preservation Services for Stablization and Repairs on the P Ranch Long Barn, NAICS 337212, Pilgrim's Progress Preservation Services has worked with the refuge since 1996 on repairs to Peter French's Historic Sod House Ranch Complex and they completed an assessment of the P Ranch Long Barn for the Harney County Historical Society in 2005. Pilgrim's Progress Preservation Services specialty is working on historic structures using the Standards set by the Secretary of Interior for structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The refuge has been unable to find other contractors who meet these standards for work on National Register structures. They are very familiar with the construction techniques used on other peter French Buildings (the Round Barn and nine building at Sod House Ranch) and because they performed the assessment of the P Ranch Long Barn they understand the extent of the repairs that are needed to make the barn safe and accessible for the public. Many of the repairs needed were identified by Pilgrim's Progress while they were completing other projects on the refuge. Their Intimate knowledge of the buildings constructed by Peter French, their understanding of the construction techniques used to construct building in the 1880's and their excellent work on previous projects means that the current project will proceed efficiently and with little or no time spent learning about the project and building repair needs. See numbered Notes 1.
