Description
This VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Vista Technology Inc., 8432 45th St. NW, Edmonton, Alberta, CA T6B2N6 for the Isoplater 180, an automatic Petri dish streaking machine. The Isoplater 180 automates the streaking of culture specimens on solid culture media, in Petri dishes. The Isoplater 180 eliminates the manual procedure while improving isolation rates, standardizing results, increasing productivity, ensuring personnel protection, and lowering costs. The Isoplater 180 is engineered to yield maximum colonial isolation with all specimen types and concentrations. The patented streaking pattern assures complete utilization of the media surface area plus a high dilution factor between quadrants. Standardized reproducible streaking with uniform high quality results make reading, enumeration and sub-culturing both easier and faster. The use of the Isoplater 180 increases the recovery of pathogenic organisms. The Isoplater 180 will improve productivity by automating the current manual streaking of plates per hour with robotic precision and efficiency, with every Petri dish being streaked identically. Once the Isoplater 180 is loaded with inoculated plates, the Isoplater 180 automatically streaks the culture plates which frees up the staff to perform other duties. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. Vendors who wish to identify their interest and capability to provide an alternate item that will meet the capabilities and functionality described above may notify the Contracting Officer, in writing, no later than 2:00 p.m. August 30, 2007. Such notification must include a complete description of the equipment that is required including narrative and capabilities as described above. Responses may be sent to Kathleen.Policicchio@va.gov or mailed to Kathleen Policicchio, Contracting Officer (04A1-H), VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. Upon receipt of any such notifications, the Contracting Officer will determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement or proceed with sole source negotiations.
