- Description
- The Food and Drug Administration proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis; a Purchase Order with Thomson Scientific to procure WEB OF KNOWLEDGE including WEB OF SCIENCE along with a 15-year back-file archive. Access to the journal literature from these products will be owned by FDA into perpetuity. This subscription offers the proprietary platform products WEB OF KNOWLEDGE and WEB OF SCIENCE from Thomson Scientific, formerly ISI ? Institute for Scientific Information. This is a customized package for the FDA Biosciences Library that offers unlimited access to all FDA staff of over 8700 high impact research journals, covering scientific, medical, chemical, mathematical, agricultural, technical, and social science indexed from as early as 1840 to present. In addition it will include access to a backfile archive plus this current year equivalent to access of information back to 1992. No other company can offer these proprietary products that are copyrighted by the owner. The following FAR provisions and clauses are applicable to the procurement: 13.501 Special documentation requirements; 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions Commercial Items: Contract Terms and Conditions Commercial Items; Clause 52.212-5, Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Statutes or Executive Orders-Commercial Items. In addition, the following FAR clauses are incorporated; 52.217-09 Option to extend the term of the contract (Mar 2000), and 52.217-8 Option to extend service (Nov 1999).
