Description
The USDA, ARS, USALARC intends to purchase from Seed Research Equipment Solutions (SRES) one 4 Row vacuum Mini-Seed planter, MS 4-3-0, Bersion A 40" row spacing. Includes rigid 5 X 5 Tool Bar Frame, adjustable Drive Wheels, seed spacing transmission, secondary air system, vacuum cleanout, Turbofan with PTO drive, rubber front wheels, narrow shoes. Includes 4 wire mesh rear press wheels in-lieu of stainless steele flat press, with 4 cover assembly air MS. Includes set-up and onsite training and freight to laboratory in USALARC, Maricopa, AZ. This is a specialty built piece of equipment. SRES is the only company that we have found that builds individual row seed-drop, self cleaning and loading vacuum air planters, for seed this small and for small plot planting. Each Lesquerella seed weighs only .06 mg. This planter meets the specifications for our needs and allows the flexibility of adding or deleting custom options to the equipment. The investigating individual spent the past year interviewing other ARS, public, and private scientists concerning companies that built custom plot planters. He also visited equipment company booths at technical conferences to determine if various companies built custom small plot planters. Eight companies making planters for small seeded vegetables and flowers were contacted, but they did not have a suitable planter. Numerous phone calls were made and no other companies were identified. A web search failed to identify any further companies that build vacuum air planters capable of planting small research plots with small seed. A solicitation is not available for this requirement, but interested parties may submit proposals to the attention of Regan Alexander as listed above. See numbered note 22. Interested parties should submit written responses including prices and technical data sufficient to determine capability to meet the entire requirement and must be received in this office within 15 calendar days after publication of this notice. If no affirmative written responses are received, this contract will be awarded to Noldus Information Technology without further notice. This acquisition is being conducted under the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated award date is September 07, 2007.
