- THE USDA, ARS, USALARC intends to purchase one version of a software program called EthoVision Color-Pro 3.1 Animal Behavior Software from Noldus Information Technology (NIT). This is a highly sophisticated software program dedicated to video tracking animals for behavioral research. To our knowledge, NIT is the sole source provider of an insect (video) tracking software that can simultaneously track the behavior of multiple subjects. This system has the unique ability to simultaneously monitor the interactions of up to 16 individual insects within the same arena (which is of paramount importance for many of our studies examining mating behavior, predator behavior, etc.). Moreover, the software can be programmed to concurrently monitor single individuals in multiple arenas (which eliminates the need for direct observation of the individuals ? one at a time). Furthermore, EthoVision software is fully compatible with other products that we have purchased from NIT in the past (e.g, The Observer 5.0, VideoPro and MatMan). A solicitation is not available for this requirement, but interested parties may submit proposals to the attention of Regan Alexander as listed above. See numbered note 22. Interested parties should submit written responses including prices and technical data sufficient to determine capability to meet the entire requirement and must be received in this office within 15 calendar days after publication of this notice. If no affirmative written responses are received, negotiations with Noldus Information Technology will be held without further notice. This acquisition is being conducted under the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated award date is September 07, 2007.
