- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has a need to design, develop and test software enhancement to the Adaptive Control Software (ACS) Lite version. This software controls roadway traffic control signals, and was previously developed for FHWA under another contract.The Lite Control software was designed to operate in existing closed loop systems, with traffic signal systems from all four NEMA signal vendors.The control algorithms consist of split and offset optimization routines that operate in near real time. FHWA will supply the the source code,executable API's, and the software documentation applicable to all four versions of the existing ACS Lite software. Upon award, the contractor will assemble all enhancements in a complete package and then lab test the enhanced software in a hardware-in-the-loop setting with real field masters and controllers for each version. This contract will provide a mechanism whereby FHWA can advance the ACS Lite program from state-of-the-art technology to state-of-the-practice technology, that can later be deployed throughout the highway transportation community.
