- The US Geological Survey intends to award a noncompetitive purchase order to Carl Zeiss SMT Inc. of Thornwood, NY for an annual service maintenance agreement for an LEO 982 scanning electron microscope. This is the only known source that has factory-trained service engineers and can provide emergency repair, preventive maintenance and replacement parts that meet original instrument specifications.The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302. Services will be provided in Menlo Park, CA. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, but interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement to the Contracting Officer by e-mail only (rdonez@usgs.gov) no later than the response date shown in this announcement. This procurement is an FY08 requirement and is therefore pending availability of funds - it will be processed to the point of award.
