Description
The National Institutes of Health(NIH)National Institute on Deafness(NIDCD)intends to procure from Mike's Machine Company the following: We are currently using multiple custom laser scanning systems from Mike?s Machine Company and we would like this instrument to be compatible with them, allowing us to maintain experimental consistency with previous research. Mike's Machine Company is the sole manufacturer of this equipment. These instruments will be a base instrument for an elaborate custom designed system and should adhere to the following specifications. Requirements: 1. The Custom Laser System must mount on the base of an Olympus BX51WI and allow installation of an Olympus fluorescence condenser on its upper surface. 2. The Custom Laser System must allow installation of Cambridge Optical 6210 (4mm) scanning galvanometers. 3. The system must allow installation of the Olympus FV-PL-W3 pupil transfer lens. 4. The translation stage must be physically compatible with the Olympus BX51WI microscope and allow specimen placement with submicron precision for cellular recording and imaging. 5. The Translation stage stepper motors must interface with the Sutter MP285 controller for automated computer control of specimen movement in x, y, and z axes. 6. The Sutter MP285 controller must be modified for use with stepper motors present in the translation stage (TS-BX51WI). enables combined two-photon laser scanning fluorescence microscopy with electrophysiological (patch-clamp) recordings. I (Stephan Brenowitz) have collaborated with a precision machinist (Tim Lafratta) at Mike?s Machine Company to design custom optical components that interface between an infrared Ti-Sapphire pulsed-laser and Olympus BX51WI upright microscope for laser-scanning microscopy. In addition the system includes a custom translation stage and controller that are designed to be used with the scan system and microscope and work with custom software that we have written for computer control of imaging and electrophysiology data acquisition. we are currently using multiple custom laser scanning systems from Mike?s Machine Company and we would like this instrument to be compatible with them, allowing us to maintain experimental consistency with previous research. This is not a solicitation for competitive proposals however, if any other interested party believes that it can meet the requirements it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statment and any other information furniished must be in writing, and must contain material in sufficeint detail to allow NIH to determine if the party meets all of the foregoing requirements. If you have any questions please contat Lloyd Garnes at 301-402-3341 or email at garnesl@od.nih.gov. Collect calls will not be accepted.
