- Description
- The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity, 820 Chandler Street, Fort Detrick, MD intends to publish a Performance-based acquisition for the installation of the Defense Blood Standard System (DBSS) that has been modernized to include an upgr aded operating system and database. The NAICS code is 541512. The solicitation number will be W81XWH-07-T-0305. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates DBSS as a Class II medical device and requires the manufacturing, installation, and servicing b e subject to the FDA Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) contained in Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 820 to ensure safe and effective medical device.The Performance Work Statement will include services necessary for the contracto r to manage its own staff, resources, products, and schedules in performing the work, but specifically excludes any services to support the Military Health System (MHS) in planning or managing MHS programs or offices. The DBSS is deployed at 72 operational peacetime fixed sites, one peacetime training site, one customer support site, one testing site, two hospital ships and a potential for approximately 163 theater sites. This action will affect the entire the entire DOD blood supply worldwide. Offerors mus t be FDA approved for these services. FDA approval will be verified.
