- THIS IS A SOLE SOURCE SYNOPSIS The 45th Contracting Squadron has a sole source requirement to extend the existing warranty for twelve (12) months for the service contracts on the ASPEX Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and related equipment that have already been procured and delivered. This is a Sole Source with Aspex Corporation IAW FAR 6.302-1. Aspex Corporation is the only source capable of fulfilling the government?s requirement as Aspex Corporation is the manufacturer of this specialized equipment and thus are uniquely suited to maintain it. Analytical instruments of this type do not lend themselves to being repaired by third party maintenance companies ? they are serviced by in-house technicians only. If the user or his designee (other than the manufacturer) attempts to perform maintenance or calibrations, damage to critical and expensive components may occur. Therefore, Aspex Corporation is the most cost effective solution to the maintenance needs of this equipment. No solicitation documents exists at this time. This item/service utilizes Standard Industrial Code (SIC) 3826 with a business size of 500 employees and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of 334516. Interested firms may identify their capability to respond to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, the government will consider any responses from capable sources received within 10 days after date of publication of this synopsis. 45 CONS/LGCB has determined that Aspex Corporation is the only source capable of providing this requirement.
