Description
The U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM), Center for Health Care Contracting (CHCC) has a requirement for non-personal services of a prestigious, nationally recognized, accredited university, to award the Degree of Doctor of Science in Emergency Medici ne for selected resident Physician Assistants who complete a specified program of instruction. The Army Medical Department Center and School (AMEDDC&S) will oversee the postgraduate Emergency Medicine-Physician Assistant education program. Graduates of th e Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Program will be trained to provide quality emergency care for patients with a wide variety of illnesses and injuries in the emergency department and on the field of battle. The US Army Physician Assistant Doctor of Science in Emergency Medicine (EM) Residency program is taught primarily by Government personnel under the supervision of the Governments DPPAE, at the AMEDDC&S, Fort Sam Houston Texas. The program started in June 2006 and consists of 16 didactic section s and 20 clinical rotations. This includes: approximately 4,300 clinical training hours, approximately 740 hours of classroom instruction, a lecture, substantive reading assignments, oral boards, written midterm and final exams, monthly procedure practice labs, multiple choice exams for the first eight didactic reading assignments, essay exams for the second eight reading assignments, and a robust research requirement. The total program length is 23 blocks spanning 18 months. The contractor shall award graduate credit and the degree Doctor of Science in Emergency Medicine to residents who successfully complete the program. The solicitation will be released on or about 28 August 2007. Paper copies of the solicitation will not be made available. Once the solicitation is posted, it is the responsibility of the interested parties to review this site frequently for any updates/amendments to any and all documents. All prospective offerors interested in submitting a proposal on the solicitation must have a Co mmercial And Government Entity Code (CAGE Code). The anticipated contract period of performance will have a base year from 28 September 2007 through 27 September 2008 with four one-year option periods.
