- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Aviation System Standards National Flight Procedures Offices, AJW-32, has a follow-on requirement for SGI systems. The FAA intends to award a single source purchase order to L-3 Communications Titan Corporation. The SGI system components will allow for expansion of existing systems that support in the development of Instrument Flight Procedures. The required products consist of the Instrument Approach Procedures Automation (IAPA) software program and system workstations. The specific items are identified below: 1. SGI Octane R12000/400 Mhz Dual Head 1G Memory machines HUR-MEM512-4 25 each 2. SC4-AWE 6.5 - 25 each 3. WT5R-1P400SE - 25 each 4. HUR-DHSE - 25 each 5. P9R-18G10K-OCT2-INT - 25 each 6. FPD190R - 25 each 7. Network Addition Client (5 Pack) Purchase - 5 each 8. Shipping Cost Silicon Graphics Systems, Inc., is the original manufacturer of the products, and the L-3 Communications Titan Corporation is the only known source able to supply identical hardware/software equipment that is configured to be compatible with the current systems. This acquisition of SGI systems maintains standardization of equipment. No source other than L-3 Communications Titan Corporation has the necessary authorization for resell of these supplies and services. Purpose of Announcement: In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single source procedures.
