Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) plans to procure on a sole source basis with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, 1100 Fairview Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98109 regarding services for: Additional Evaluations of Treatment Choice and Quality of Life for Men with Localized Prostate Cancer. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 541690 and the business size standard is $6.5M employees. The supplies and services herein are being procured in accordance with the simplified acquisition procedures authorized by FAR Part 13.106. The purpose of this project is to conduct additional analyses of the data collected through the collaborative study entitled, Treatment Choice and Quality of Life for Men with Localized Prostate Cancer. This project is also known by its working title, the Prostate Cancer Therapy Selection Study (PCATS). The objective of the PCATS study is to recruit men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer prior to initiating treatment, in order to prospectively evaluate the treatment decision-making process. A total of 871 men completed surveys at the time of diagnosis, with 64% returning the survey before initiating any treatment. A six-month follow-up survey is currently in the field. The researchers of the Office of Sponsored Research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research center are the only known researchers that have been involved in survey and database design, survey administration and data collection, and data preparation for this analysis, Treatment Choice and Quality of Life for Men with Localized Prostate Cancer. They are familiar with the data collected from the novel PCATS prostate study and this familiarity is critical to the continued success of and can expand the analyses to support this NCI study. The researchers have acquired the knowledge, skills, background and experience in study design, survey procedures, and data preparation analysis. Period of Performance shall be for twelve (12) months from date of award. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the researcher to determine if the party can perform this requirement. An original and one copy of the capability statement must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 pm EST on August 21, 2007, 2007 to Malinda Holdcraft, Contract Specialist. It is the vendors responsibility to call 301-402-4509 or email the aforementioned individual to insure questions have been received. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted.
