- Description
- The contractor will provide vegetation control services to the Trident and Poseidon Berms within the boundaries of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. Herbicides will be applied to grassland/shrubland areas of 142.7 and 50 acres respectively, to control invasive vegetation including Brazilian Pepper, Cogon Grass and to a lesser extent other woody species encroaching on the interior and on the exterior of these dredge spoil deposition berms. Since the area on the interior of the berm is very inaccessible to vehicular application methods, aerial application is preferred and it will incorporate GPS assisted swath placement. The application equipment will provide GPS guidance information to be extracted into GIS and analyzed. The contractor will need to develop a Flight Plan and obtain approval from Base Operations and Air Traffic Control. Any equipment, whether aerial or ground, will be transported in accordance with Florida DOT regulations. Areas on the outside of the berm, including the exterior face and the base, will be treated with hand held equipment or vehicle mounted units. GPS data will be generated for these areas as well. The contractor will support this SOW by providing a post-herbicide application assessment up to two times per year and continuing for up to two years following application to ensure that the treatment is efficacious and meets the goals and objectives set forth.
