- Description
- The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Financial Investigations/Narcotics & Public Safety has a requirement for five (5) high-speed currency counting/serial recording money machines. The capability of the currency counting/serial recording money machines will need to be compatible with the current anti-money laundering efforts of the Trade Transparency Unit (TTU). This purchase will be on a basis other than full and open competition in accordance with FAR Part 8. This action is under the authority of FAR Subpart 8.405-6(b): Only one source is capable of responding due to the unique or specialized nature of the work. In this particular case, the vendor Cashscan Corporation is the sole provider/distributor of High Speed Desktop Currency Sorter, model DS9100 with software installed. This model is the only one on the market that has the capability to record the serial number of US Dollars, do a serial number comparison of both serial numbers on a note for accuracy, and record and store the images of processed notes. Cashscan Corporation the designer and developer of model DS9100 with software installed, has all proprietary and ownership rights in the software, and there are no authorized resellers of the software.
