- The USAF requires a common and sustainable Ground-based Tactical Data Link Support system (GDSS) capable of supporting realistic training environments, is deployable, enhances support of data link system operations, and empowers mimimally trained personnel to participate as a member of the operational environment. The system must contain a tactical workstation that supports ground-based simulation and training, live mission operations, development of realistic operational scenarios, operational recording, and post-mission ground based playback and mission analysis. The human-machine interface must be at the level of a pilot/technician who use the data link in an operational environment -- it must be straight forward and simple to use The system must NOT require the operator to be a Link 16 message standard expert.
