- The Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO), Acquisition Operations Service, Washington, DC is seeking a contractor to provide for the comprehensive assessment, by a nationally recognized external Accrediting Body (AB), of the geographically dispersed Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration's 33 Radiation Oncology Departments. The AB will review and evaluate each radiation oncology facility, equipment, personnel qualifications, patient treatment records and planning, safety, and quality control procedures by use of document review, on-site inspections, and a peer review mechanism. The AB will ascertain whether these radiation oncology programs comply with existing federal regulations, rules, laws and professional practice standards. The AB will identify trends in provision of care across all VA RO departments. The accreditation program will provide the veterans and VA's stakeholders with an assurance of high quality and compliance in VHA's Radiation Oncology programs. The solicitation document will be released on or about August 13, 2007.
