- The above referenced solicitation is hereby amended to respond to a technical question submitted, incorporate a change to the specifications and the required warranty and extend the due date for quotations. The due date for quotations is hereby changed as follows: FROM: 3:30 PM Eastern Time on Thurday, July 19, 2007 TO: 3:30 PM Eastern Time on Monday, July 23, 2007. E-MAIL QUOTES SHALL BE ACCEPTED. FAX QUOTES SHALL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Response is hereby provided to the following question submitted: QUESTION: In response to our request for OEM pricing on the 2520 High Energy Panel, Varian indicated that NIST had provided the Neutron Scintillator direct to Varian for modification of the 2520HE panel (on a previous project). In any case this presents a possible problem as the electronics could be folded out and shielded from the standard 2520 panel and the Neutron Scintillator installed via ourselves or other potential bidder, however this would void the Varian Warranty (LINE ITEM 0001 Para.(1)). The current 2520V panel is shielded as standard for 225kVp and the Neutron Scintillator installed with full warranty. I am not sure how to proceed unless the intent of the specification is that the bidder is to assume Varian's Warranty. RESPONSE: NIST is providing the Neutron Scintillator as a part of this project. Reference Line Item 0001, Specification 3. With respect to the warranty requirements, reference the change below. Line Item 0001, specification 1 is hereby changed to read as follows: FROM: (1) The detector must be Varian Paxscan 2520 high energy detector. If the detector is a low energy detector the Contractor shall convert the detector to an equivalent version of the Varian Paxscan 2520 high energy detector while maintaining the original manufacture?s warranty; TO: (1) The detector must be Varian Paxscan 2520 high energy detector. If the detector is a low energy detector the Contractor shall convert the detector to an equivalent version of the Varian Paxscan 2520 high energy detector; WARRANTY is hereby changed to read as follows: FROM: The Contractor shall provide the original manufactures (Varian) warranty for the equipment. Warranty shall include all parts and labor. Warranty shall be on-site or return to vendor as deemed necessary by the Contractor. If on-site, all travel costs shall be included in the warranty. If return to vendor, all shipping charges and all responsibility for the shipments to and from NIST, shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. TO: The Contractor shall provide a one year warranty for the equipment. The Contractor shall warranty that the equipment operate in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications for the PAXSCAN 2520. Warranty shall include all parts and labor. Warranty shall be on-site or return to Contractor as deemed necessary by the Contractor. If on-site, all travel costs shall be included in the warranty. If return to vendor, all shipping charges and all responsibility for the shipments to and from NIST, shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. NOTE: THIS NOTICE MAY HAVE POSTED ON FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (17-JUL-2007).
