- Chief Joseph Dam employees have a need for a better understanding of retirement benefits. There is a need for three different stages of education: (A) Day 1 August 14 Early career (within 5 years of initial employment) (16 FERS) (B) Day 2 August 15 Mid career (10-20 years of employment) (2 CSRS, 18 FERS) (B) Day 3 August 16 Late career (within 5 years of retirement) (12 CSRS, 12 FERS) The following topics will be covered as applicable to Early, Mid and Late Career employees. Early Career employees are all under the FERS Retirement plan. Mid and Late Career employees are under both the CSRS and FERS Retirement plans. Day 2 and 3 shoul d be applicable to both CSRS and FERS. The following topics should be covered in the course for each set of employees: Federal Benefits Civil Service Retirement System/Federal Employees Retirement System Social Security Medicare Thrift Savings Plan Long-Term Care Insurance Processing Your Retirement Financial Realities Legal Insurance
