- The VA Healthcare Network Upstate NY Medical Center at 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215 intends to award a sole source purchase to G.A. Braun, Inc, in accordance with FAR 13 for a purchase of a 600 pound clothes washer located in the Laundry. The NAICS Code is 333312 "Commercial Laundry Machine Manufacturing" with the size standard of 500 employees. Furnish and install new, one (1) each, front loading pass through 500/600 LB washer-extractor. The washer-extractor shall be of the shell and cylinder type. The size (capacity) shall be based on 5.7 pounds of soiled textiles per cubic foot of cylinder volume (GROSS). The washer-extractor shall be designed for loading and unloading with a minimum amount of effort from employees. Washers shall be capable of being sling loaded without any spillage. Loading chutes, if required, shall not be portable and must be permanently attached to the washer. Multiple compartments, pass-through model. Size (minimum capacities, pounds): 500/600 pounds - minimum of 2 compartments. Successful offeror shall interface existing Class I - Liquid Supply System with installed equipment for the dispensing of seven (7) types of chemicals followed by a fresh water flush capability. Pipe and connections shall be furnished for utilizing the liquid supply system. Water level sight glass is required. Anti-vibration protection is required. Divided cylinder machine shall be provided with automatic jog/inching or positioning in addition to manual inching provisions. Unit shall have audible and visual alarms at end of cycle for loading and unloading on both the soil side and clean side. Automatic cycle control shall be of the microprocessor type. The control shall utilize a solid state timing system. Balancing of load prior to extraction is required. Machine shall be equipped with an illuminated emergency stop button when activated. Normal stop and emergency stop buttons shall be colored RED. An easily accessible titration valve shall be installed on the washer for testing/sampling of wash water. Washer-extractor shall be vented/exhausted to the outside atmosphere. Unit shall have thermostatically controlled automatic steam injection. Electrical characteristics - 208 volts, 3 phase, 60 cycles. Provide 4-Plex receptacle at each equipment location for mechanics use. Washer extractors shall be micro processor controlled and capable of being programmed for wash loads. An hour gauge shall be installed on the equipment that will show actual hours of run time on the washer extractor. Water reuse valve is required.
