Description
Sole Source Synopsis: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Coordinating Center for NCZVED/Division of Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases (DVBID), Ft Collins, CO, has a requirement for several items of laboratory equipment: (1) iQ5 Real-Time PCR Icycler System with Laptop, (2) DNA Engine Thermal Cycler Chassis, (3) Dual 48 Alpha-unit for thermal cycler, and (4) Alpha unit, 96-well. The government has determined that the products listed above from Bio-Rad Laboratories meet the CDC requirement. To qualify for this requirement a bidder must be able to deliver a ?Brand Name or Equal? products having the following salient characteristics and capabilities: meet delivery schedule of 30 July 2007 to Fort Collins, CO; a real-time PCR machine must be capable of multiplexing up to 5 fluorophores in each reaction vessel, provide reliable thermal cycling performance and real-time PCR thermal gradient for rapid assay optimization, multiple options for data analysis and presentation that provide a comprehensive view of assay results, advanced gene expression analysis methods that include publication-quality statistics and graphs for relative quantification, flexible allelic discrimination analysis tool that allows automatic sample identification and genotyping experiments, embedded tool for end-point fluorescence analysis that simplifies qualitative assessment of sample abundance in single- or multicolor assays, a sample capacity of 96 x .02 ml tubes or one 96-well PCR plate, sample volume of 15-100 micro liters, a linear dynamic range of copy number of up to 9 orders of magnitude, gradient range of 40 to100 degrees Celsius, and temperature differential range of 1 to 25 degrees Celsius. A DNA Engine Thermal Cycler Chassis must be capable of allowing multiple substrates (individual tubes, 960well plates, glass slides, etc), flexible programming features to perform gradient reactions as well as variable length RT-PCR, must have independently controlled dual blocks for running 2 protocols simultaneously, must have gradient capability with 96-well Alpha units, 2 temperature control options: block control or calculated control, adjustable heated lids that accommodate many vessel types and various sealing options, display minimum of 20 x 4 alphanumeric LCD, Memory up to 400 typical programs and up to 12 password-protected folders. Based on the mandatory capabilities listed above and the government?s requirement for immediate performance, the CDC plans to award a noncompetitive contract to Bio-Rad Laboratories; if, however, you believe you possess all of the mandatory capabilities to provide ?Brand-Name-or-Equal? products on or before the required delivery date, you are invited to submit a bid or quotation to the Contract Specialist at bskennedy@cdc.gov no later than 20 July 2007. The CDC will consider all submissions received as a result of this announcement.
