- The Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility is seeking sources of improved water repellent fabrics for potential use in All Weather Coats for the US Navy. Fabric performance characteristics should be equal to or better than the current fabric which is specified in A-A-50531 Cloth, Poplin; Polyester and Cotton -Water Repellent (see attachment for specifics). Fiber content of the enhanced fabric is not limited to those specified in A-A-50531. The fabric should demonstrate increased water repellency (both initially and after laundering); enhanced colorfastness properties, especially improved color retention after laundering; improved wrinkle resistance; and additional comfort features such as breathability, moisture wicking, wind protection, etc. The fabric must match the visual appearance of the currently specified fabric (swatch is available upon request). This sources sought notice is subject to the Berry Amendment, 10 USC 2533a. Firms who believe they have product(s) capable of meeting the above requirements are requested to contact Debbie Peppenelli at 508-233-4172, x115 or via email at dpeppenelli@nctrf.natick.army.mil by 30 September 2007 to schedule an appointment at NCTRF to present product information such as sample yardage, product literature, company brochures, place of manufacturer and other relevant information. Or product information may be sent to Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility, Attn: D. Peppenelli, Kansas Street, Natick, MA 01760, or submitted via email to dpeppenelli@nctrf.natick.army.mil no later than 30 September 2007. Submitted information and materials will not be returned. This is not a request for proposal or quotation. No solicitation document exists. This is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to procure these items, nor does the US Navy intend to award on the basis of th e sources sought notice or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect cost or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this request for information and Government use of such information.
