- The U.S. Geological Survey, Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) and the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii National Park HI, has a requirement to coat the roof of the HVO buildings to protect the roof from the severe acid-rain conditions. Contractor to provide and install a metal roof coating over existing standing seam metal roof, including preparation of substrate such as pressure-washing, treatment and removal of rust areas, flashing and reinforcing of joints and junctions, and other treatments as required by the coating manufacturer. The total roof area is approximately 26,500 square feet. The brand name for the metal roof coating is TOPCOAT a liquid-applied roofing membrane system called Flashing Grade Waterproofing Elastomeric Sealant, manufactured by GAF Materials Corporation, or equivalent. The essential characteristics of TOPCOAT are: synthetic rubber waterproofing sealant that cures under the sun to become stronger and forms a flexible seal without seams that will not become brittle, so it will expand and contract with the metal roof. TOPCOAT has a rust inhibiting primer to be applied to areas of rust before roofing system membrane. Period of Performance: 09/17/2007 - 10/31/2007. The NAICS code is 238160. The estimated magnitude of this requirement is between $100,000 and $250,000. The Request for Proposal (RFP) 07WRSS0029 will be posted on or about 07/27/2007. Once issued, the RFP may be viewed on the Department of the Interior Business Opportunities Web Page at http://ideasec.nbc.gov. Proposal response date: 08/27/2007. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the Agency. Vendors are encouraged to notify the Contracting Officer of their interest in this acquisition.
