- The Food and Drug Administration intends to award a Purchase Order on a Sole Source basis to BIOMERIEUX VITEK, INC for the purchase of: The FDA has a critical need for kits and reagents used to detect the characterization of foodborne pathogens. All items will include the GSA pricing in the purchase agreement. -Vidas Staph Enterotoxin sets -ICS Broth -Vidas ICS assay 30435 -Vidas SLM assay 30702 -VP1 & VP2 70422 -Shipping estimate -THIS AWARD INCLUDES FREIGHT FOR PERISHABLE ITEMS WHICH REQUIRE OVERNIGHT SHIPPING Biomerieux Vitek, Inc. is the sole producer of these unique kits and accessories. We have been unable to find any comparable kits or substitute. The capabilities of the Biomerieux Vitek kits are so unique and specific for the FERN detection program, we have been unable to find any other vendor with the same standards. NO REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. An award will be made in TEN (10) days from the date of this notice. All responses or questions regarding this posting must be in writing and can be sent via email to Harry.BrubakerIII@FDA.HHS.GOV. No phone calls will be accepted. This sole source procurement will be awarded as a simplified acquisition for commercial items in accordance with FAR Subpart 13.5.
