Description

This is an amendment to the Presolicitation Notice for the African American Traditional Use Study. It is open to all sources. New description is as follows: NPS seeks to conduct a systematic and comprehensive study of the traditional cultural and historical associations of African American people with communities and places of the New River Gorge NR associated with the development of the New River coal fields. The purpose of the research project is twofold: (1) to provide an ethnohistrical context for discussions of the traditional associations between African American communities and groups in the New River area and the park resources with which they are associated, based on the review and analysis of documentary data, and (2) to document and describe park resources that are significant to the ethnic identity, history and lifeways of African Americans based on the results of ethnographic and documentary research. The solicitation will be issued O/A July 17, 2007, and close O/A August 16, 2007. Submissions shall be in accordance with the Request for Proposal. The Solicitation will be available only at http://ideasec.nbc.gov. NO HARD COPIES WILL BE MAILED. Complete and return to NPS, New River Gorge National River, 104 Main Street, Glen Jean, WV 25846. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered. The magnitude of this work is between $25,000 and $100,000. NAICS: 541990.
