- U.S. Army RDECOM Acquisition Center, Natick, MA, on behalf of the U.S. Marine Corps has a requirement for 450 hot pressed boron carbide tiles for testing and evaluation. The Government anticipates awarding one (1) Firm-Fixed Price Purchase Order to Ceradyne, Inc., located in Costa Mesa, CA. This order is being awarded to test and evaluate the ballistic properties of pressed boron tiles to develop future requirements for the USMC. To meet this requirement, the Government requires 450 tiles, 4 by 4 and at the following thicknesses; 5 tiles 0.250 inches, 150 tiles 0.320 inch, 150 tiles 0.390 inch, 75 tiles 0.460 inch. The required testing and evaluation for hot pressed boron carbide produced uses proprietary methods specific to Ceradyne. As such, Ceradyne is the only available source to satisfy the requirement. Delivery shall be FOB destination (contractor) Costa Mesa, CA and inspection and acceptance shall be at destination (to be determined) by the contractor. The North American Industry Classif ication System Identifier for this procurement is 335991; the Small Business Size Standard is 750 employees.
