- Reminder and Additional Information - UPCOMING INDUSTRY DAY - THE ACTUAL SOLICITATION WILL BE ISSUED BETWEEN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER 2007. DISREGARD REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AT THIS TIME. ANY REGISTRATIONS ENTERED PRIOR TO RE MOVAL OF THIS RESTRICTION WILL BE REMOVED AND THE REGISTRANT WILL HAVE TO RE-REGISTER IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A COPY OF THE SOLICITATION. THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT PROVIDE NOTIFICATION TO FIRMS THAT HAVE TO RE-REGISTER. The Portugues Dam Industry Day will be he ld on July 12, 2007 at Grand Sal?n B at the Ponce Hilton, 1150 Caribe Ave. in Ponce PR. The US Army Corps of Engineers and the Government of Puerto Rico invite contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers and professionals to come and learn about the project. R egistration is from 8:00-9:00 with presentations until about 1:30. See the Agenda Below. Corps of Engineers representatives will explain technical requirements, contracting procedures and there will be a general discussion and question and answer period about the proposed work. A site visit will be coordinated for interested company officials. Contract award is estimated to be made by November-December 2007. Dam construction should take from 2008-2012. Timetable depends on availability of federal funds ap propriated by Congress. The Construction project location is approximately 3 miles northwest of the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, on the Portugues River. The work will include construction of a 220-foot high Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) single center thi ck arch dam with a crest length of 1,230 feet and an estimated 367,000 Cubic yards of RCC. Appurtenant structures include integral spillway and intake structure. A valve house and control room for reservoir operation is located just downstream adjacent to the river. Work will also include foundation excavation in rock, placing foundation concrete, foundation grouting, and development of an on-site quarry for concrete aggregate production.
