Description

Furnish all necessary labor, materials, and equipment for the demolition and removal of existing construction, and work required to complete the addition and renovation as required for the Additional Inpatient Beds, SCIU, Downtown Division, VA Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia. Statement of Bid Items is as follows: A. Item 1, Bid Item 1: Furnish all necessary labor, materials and equipment for the demolition and removal of existing construction, and work required to complete the addition and renovation as required for the Additional Inpatient Beds, SCIU, Downtown Division, VA Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia. Work includes site work, general construction, renovations, mechanical and electrical work necessary to complete the addition and renovation of the Spinal Cord Injury Unit as required by drawings and specification; B. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 1: All work contemplated in Bid Item 1 EXCEPT two roof screens shown on Drawing Sheet 801-A3.0 and in Section 10240 of the specifications. Also delete roof feature as shown on Drawing Sheet 801-A2.0 Elevations. Delete elevated roof and metal building panels. Roof steel shown on Drawing Sheet 801-S2.2, High Roof Framing Plan to be lowered to elevation of low roof framing. Delete support brackets (Sheets 801-A5.4, Detail BD-1 and Wall Section WS-5) and overhang steel and roofing. See attached Appendix D for revised roof plan; C. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 2: All work contemplated in Bid Item 1 and Alternate Bid Item No. 1 EXCEPT all site work shall be as shown on Sheets: 801-C2-A DEMOLITION PLAN (ALTERNATE); 801-C3-A LAYOUT PLAN (ALTERNATE); 801-C4-A GRADING AND DRAINAGE PLAN (ALTERNATE); 801-C5-A UTILITY PLAN (ALTERNATE); 801-C6-A SOIL AND EROSION & SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN (ALTERNATE). The site work shall be as shown on the above drawings. Details and schedules shall be as shown on 801.C7 through 801-C12. Omit Sheets 801-C2, 801-C3, 801-C4, 801-C5, and 801-C6. Coordinate all utilities, sign relocation, electrical services and landscaping accordingly. Site work and all site amenities shall be complete and functional; D. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 3: All work contemplated in Bid Item 1, Alternate Bid Item No. 1, and Alternate Bid Item No. 2 EXCEPT all work related to the construction of the "Courtyard" landscaping and hardscaping as shown on Sheet 801-L.3 Courtyard Landscaping, Irrigation and Site Plan. 10" storm drain to courtyard as shown on Sheet 801-C4 to remain. The (4) four concrete yard boxes shown on 801-L.3 to remain. Delete all plantings, hardscapes, furniture, and irrigation system. Plumbing and electrical rough-ins to remain; E. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 4: All work contemplated in Bid Item 1, Alternate Bid Item No. 1, Alternate Bid Item No. 2, and Alternate Bid Item No. 3 EXCEPT all work related to the construction of offices 1F-134 and 1E-134 complete. Also deduct the finishes (flooring, base, painting, vinyl wall coverings, metal studs and gypsum board for Spaces 1E-108, 1E-110, 1E-112, 1E-113, 1E-114, 1E-115, 1E-117, and C1-7A. Ceiling to remain as well as lighting and mechanical devices. Electrical and data systems to be roughed-in above ceiling for future access. Provide one light switch for new Space 1E-113. See attached Appendix E1 and E2 for revised floor plans; F. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 5: All work contemplated in Bid Item 1, Alternate Bid Item No. 1, Alternate Bid Item No. 2, Alternate Bid Item No. 3, and Alternate Bid Item No. 4 EXCEPT all work related to the therapy pool construction and equipment by Ferno-Washington, Inc. as shown on Sheets 801-A8.2 Therapy Pool Layout and 801-A8.3 Therapy Pool Details. Delete all labor, material, equipment and products to build and outfit the therapy pool in space 1H-104 Therapy Pool and 1H-104J Pool Mech. The pool concrete pit, plumbing, rough-ins to remain. Delete the floor and wall finishes in spaces 1H-104 and 1H-104J. All work and finishes for spaces 1H-104H Staff, 1H-104A Store, 1H-104B Female/Staff, 1H-104C Toilet, 1H-104E Male/Staff, 1H-104F Toilet, 1H-104G Shower, 1H-104D Shower to remain. The ceilings, lighting and mechanical systems for all spaces to remain. Refer to all architectural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical drawings and specifications for complete scope of work; G. COMPLETION TIME: 1. BID ITEM NO. 1, 540 Calendar Days; 2. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 1, 520 Calendar Days; 3. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 2, 490 Calendar Days; 4. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 3, 490 Calendar Days; 5. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 4, 480 Calendar Days; 6. ALTERNATE BID ITEM NO. 5, 480 Calendar Days; H. A single award will be made on bid item 1, but in the event the bids exceed funds available, a single award will be made on Alternate Bid Item 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, based on the availability of funds. Bidders are to submit a price on each bid item listed. Applicable NAICS Code is 236220. Cost range is between $2,000,000.00 to $5,000,000.00. Procurement is unrestricted. Two (2) pre-site visits will be scheduled and exact dates, times and locations will be announced when solicitation package is ready for download o/a July 23, 2007.
