- The purpose of this contract is to have the contractor furnish all labor, equipment, fuel, oil, transportation and supplies to perform wildlife habitat improvement and fuel reduction work on the Seward Ranger District of the Chugach National Forest. The project area is located on the Kenai Peninsula, approximately five miles west of Cooper Landing, Alaska. The Quartz South Wildlife Habitat Improvement project is located along Quartz Creek Rd. adjacent to the road and along Crescent Creek Trail. Vehicle access is possible from Tern Lake along Quartz Creek Rd. to units 1 and 2. Access to units 1 and 2 is also possible along Quartz Creek Rd. from the Cooper Landing side; however, a portion of this access past the Cooper Creek Day Use Area is through State Land. The contractor will be responsible for obtaining any permits necessary for this access. Units 4-7 are located adjacent to Crescent Creek Trail. Access to units 4-7 is from Quartz Creek Rd. across from the Cooper Creek Day Use Area. Access to Units 4-7 during contract operations is by foot or Off Highway Vehicle. All Terrain Vehicle access may only occur once a week on frozen or dry ground during a weekday between the hours of 10am and 2pm. No roads exist or will be constructed in the project area. The government will not provide special maintenance, snow plowing, grading to open roads or keep roads open. The performance period is from award date to September 30, 2008. Award of this project to be accomplished under 100% Small Business set-aside. The solicitation and drawings will be available for downloading at http://www.fedbizopps.gov on or about July 06, 2007. Offers will be due approximately 15 calendar days after the solicitation issue date.
